Hi there! I'm Laura. So basically this is my blog that I started to chronical my new life as a University student. I can't really call it a survival guide, as to be honest, there probablly wont be much surviving! It's just a bit of fun really, and meant to be a bit of a light hearted read. Hope you enjoy. x

Texting People In The Next Room And The Beginning Of Going Away

So there were 2 main things that happened yesterday relating to university:

  • Signed up for a mobile phone contract
  • The first going away party!

So the first thing was to change from pay as you go mobile.

Thank God for that!

The amount of money I spend each month on phone credit is well, lets say, out of my budget range. So finally my parents said I could switch to a monthly payment contract. So I joined Virgin Mobile's 30 day rolling contract. I would really recommend this one. I compared it to all the other major brands, and its the best by far. I get unlimited texts, 500 minutes and 200 Internet minutes for £15 a month.

Before going to university, if your on pay as you go, I would really recommend switching to a deal like this (unless you spend less than £15 a month) because I did this summer school/ taster thing a couple o moths back, where I stayed at Lancaster University for 3 and half Weeks, basically living as a student. And let me tell you, I spent way more credit than I do normally, as you text people you are living with rather than knocking on there door... "Bar at 9? "Pizza for tea?" "Criminology is sending me to sleep" etc.

So there's my little budgeting tip for you.

Because after having a few drinks, if someone challenges you do a push up contest, your going to accept!

And now for the going away party!

So last night my friend Katie held a going away party for me and our friends. She's not actually going University, so it was rather good of her! I was a little worried actually as to how it would go, as me and Katie had been fighting earlier in the week, basically over something stupid, but you know how it can get. Anyways I spent way too long getting ready for it as usual, was an hour late, and then realised that I'd bought the wrong SD card for my brand new camera! Oh dear...

But I did bring Vodka!

Because again, after drinking way too much, you think its cool to raid the kitchen, then get the giggles over various utensils...

Anyways, It was a fun filled house party, with some very funny drink related moments (see photos for examples)

And this is just the start of the going away celebrations, going to town on Tuesday for student night (cheep drinks all round!) and then a formal meal on Thursday with my friends.

I'm actually starting to realise that University is just round the corner!
