Hi there! I'm Laura. So basically this is my blog that I started to chronical my new life as a University student. I can't really call it a survival guide, as to be honest, there probablly wont be much surviving! It's just a bit of fun really, and meant to be a bit of a light hearted read. Hope you enjoy. x

The Delights Of 3 Days Of Banking

Hold the phone! I'm about to give some advice! Haha.

I would really recommend doing this, if your starting University, or to be honest, in general.

Opening a second bank account.
Basically why I'd do this is because my student loan, tuition money and grants are going into my current account, there's going to be quite a bit in there. Now I have this obsession with Internet shopping... well who doesn't? There's brilliant bargains to be discovered, oh and don't get me started on EBay, although so far Ive refrained from signing up, for the sake of my wallet. Anywho, fraud is a risk with Internet shopping, so I don't want to compromise my student loan! That would be very bad! So I opened up another account which if I know I need (more like want) to buy something online, I can just top up my account or that item, and if it does get hacked, I'll only lose a small amount.
But here's a few thing's you'll need to take with you:
  • A statement from your other bank (Why? I think that's just nosey to be honest)
  • And the UCAS letter confirming your place on your course
  • Then of course the regular stuff like proof of ID, passport etc

Don't do a me. I first went on Friday, but didn't have my bank statement, so came back Saturday, but didn't have my UCAS letter, so had to go AGAIN today! Typical me! Reminds me of the Student laundrette moment... maybe I'll tell you that storey sometime!
